The approach follows the ancient Kalapani–Lipulekh corridor — the same route that Uttarakhand's Shauka traders used for centuries to cross into Tibet. Access requires an Inner Line Permit and a Protected Area Permit; the entire ILP zone is closed to mass tourism, which means the Jolingkong valley where the peak reveals itself is one of the quietest sacred sites in the Indian Himalaya. Om Parvat, on the same corridor, is one of the most visually striking mountains on Earth — its north face snowfields naturally form the OM (ॐ) symbol, visible from the Nabhidhang viewpoint at 4,266 m.
